Welcome to Alnwick
Harriers official Website. The site has been online since December
2004.
The site is not only intended to promote the club
it is also meant to promote Alnwick as an area of outstanding beauty to
visit and enjoy.
We have also provided links to other athletics clubs and organisations.
Club History
Alnwick Harriers was formed in 1981 and became affiliated to the AAA in
1982 At its inception there were 10 members. The club now has about
100
members both male and female of all standards, some are at the “hot end” of
races whilst others run just to keep fit. The Senior Section of the
club is primarily involved in
road and cross country races, although some of our members enjoy fell races
and Monroe bashing. Over the years the club has used a number of venues for
changing, including Alnwick Rugby Club. The senior section of the club now operates out of Willowburn Leisure Centre, Willowburn
Road, Alnwick. The seniors meet every Wednesday evening at 6:45 pm at
the Leisure Centre. The sessions are varied and finish with a shower and
then down to Alnwick Town Centre for a cup of coffee or something stronger
depending on your taste. Saturday and Sunday morning sees some of the more fitter
members doing a long run (10 to 15
miles). The long run isn't compulsory but it may help you to build up
your stamina! Ask at the club for further details of these runs.
Junior Section
The junior
section, formed in September 2006 is still in its infancy, but already has
in excess of
70
members and regularly competes in both track & field competitions,
as well as cross-country.
Where Do We Meet?
We meet at the Lindisfarne
sports centre on Tuesdays. The first training session starts at 6.00pm
prompt and finishes at 7.00pm. The second training session starts at 7.00pm
and finishes at 8.00pm.
Membership
Senior membership is £15 per year. Joining fees for new junior
members is £20 including a club running vest. (Club vests are
compulsory at a number of events). Annual subscriptions are £10 and
this is collected on 1st October. Additional (Subsidised) club vests
can be purchased for £10.
Membership includes the use of changing facilities, showers and other
benefits such as free or subsidised transport to some races.

Coastal Run 2009
Northumberland
Coastal Run (approx 14 miles of undulating running which follows the coastal
path from Beadnell to Alnmouth) will take place on Sunday July 12th 2009.
Entry details will be made available on this site when available.

that the 2008 Coastal Run was held on Sunday 20th July at 10:30. For

Les Allcorn 2009
Les Allcorn
(10k measured race run through beautiful private estate on tracks and
road) date is Tuesday 12th May 2009. Start time 7.15pm (to be
confirmed). Entry details will be made available on this site when
available.
The 2008 Les Allcorn Race was held Tuesday 20th
