George Ogle Memorial Race

On Wednesday 25th May 7 Harriers took part in the latest Grand Prix race, the George Ogle Memorial Race which is organised by Derwent Valley Running Club. This is a gem of a race, coming in at just under 6 miles, with a decent mix of road, trail, grass and steepness! There were some very good performances from our contingent, in a race held in wet but still conditions.

There was an age category win for Diana WEIGHTMAN once again as she scooped the female 50 honours. Diana was 7th female overall and ran strongly throughout to finish in 44.43. Meanwhile for the men there was a great battle between Tim FALCONER, Paul GODDEN and Dave HINDMARSH. Dave was leading the way coming into the final 2 mile stretch, which is an excellent slightly downhill and straight section, where you can really motor. However he was overtaken by Tim and Paul, who both powered on to finish ahead of him, in that order. Mark DOCTOR was just under a minute behind Dave, whilst John ROSS and Stuart BRUCE were the other 2 Alnwick finishers. This is a great, low-key race, which is very well organised by Derwent Valley RC. They were also very generous with spot prizes, with John ROSS taking home a new running jacket! Results

31-Tim FALCONER 40.06

33-Paul GODDEN 40.11

49-Mark DOCTOR 41.44
