Thirsk 10/Trimpell 20/East Hull 20/Cragside 10k/Beeston Parkrun/Druridge Bay Parkrun/Penrith Parkrun/Riverside Parkrun

On Sunday 20th March 5 Harriers headed down to Thirsk to take part in the popular fast and flat 10 mile race. There were good performances from all with Graham SYERS finishing first of our contingent, just ahead of Dean STACKHOUSE and Jim LILLICO. Ruth DOCTOR and new recruit Melanie BUCHANAN also took part and were pleased with their times. Results:

Also that day Richard JOHNSON was back on his beloved roads after racing on mud and fells in recent weeks. He travelled across the Pennines to tackle the Trimpell 20 as part of his marathon training. Richard finished 96th in 2.22.25.

Finally for Sunday Mel STEER also took part in a 20 miler, the East Hull 20. Just over a minute quicker than the same race last year, Mel was 218th finisher in a fine 2.47.02.

The day before a number of Harriers took part in the Run Nation organised Cragside 10k, a race which saw a number of debuts in Harriers vests! 1st across the line was Gareth PEARSON in 28th, a couple of minutes ahead of John ROBSON looking resplendent in his brand new vest. Kim REDPATH was our 1st female finisher, whilst Lucy BOWDEN and Samantha TOWLER made their debuts for us! Also well done to Steve STUDLEY who knocked about 5 minutes off his time from the same race last year. Results:

Also that morning there were a whole host of excellent performances by Harriers at various parkruns. Dan LENG, down at the Beeston Parkrun in Nottingham, was fastest for us as he finished 2nd of the 175 runners in 17.58. Elsewhere Peter GREY knocked about 30 seconds off his time from last week at Druridge Bay, to finish 5th and comfortably win the male 55 category. Tim FALCONER ran a 5k pb there, whilst Eileen GUTHRIE and Pam WHELDON won the female 50 and 60 categories! Over at Penrith Gay EASTOE was 1st in the female 60 age group.
