Royal Signals Relays/Druridge Bay Parkrun/Newcastle Parkrun/Workington Parkrun

It was great to see 3 teams of Harriers taking part in the Royal Signals Relays at Hetton le Hole on Saturday 20th February. We were represented in the Senior Men, Veteran Male and Veteran Female races, with each member running a fast and furious 2.2 mile leg. Stars on the day were mother and son, Karen and Ben KELLY, as they ran the fastest legs for us. However there were some very good team performances and we should all be proud of our achievements!

Our highest placed team on the day were our Senior Men who finished 26th in the race containing Senior and Veterans men. Ben KELLY ran a brilliant first leg of 11.57, before handing on to another younger Harrier in Joe MALLEN. Dominic HARRIS, Jordan ROGERSON and Dean STACKHOUSE ran good legs, whilst Richard JOHNSON ran our 2nd fastest leg anchoring the team home. Our Veteran Mens team were 58th, with Ian SIMON and Terry FOUNTAIN running the fastest legs. Jon DUFFY, having his 1st start in a Harriers vest, got us off to a decent start, before passing the baton onto Terry. Andy STEPHENSON was on the 3rd leg, followed by Andy SQUIRES, Jock BOLAM and then Ian. Well done to the latter two who had already taken part in a cycle race earlier in the day!

Our 4 women finished a steady 47th of the 88 teams in the Womens and Male over 50 race. Diana WEIGHTMAN set off and handed on to Denise DRUMMOND, Tracey SAMPLE and finally Karen KELLY.
