Alas the final race in our exciting 2015 Grand Prix series, the Norman Woodcock Memorial 5 Mile Race, was cancelled last week. This put the committee in a bit of a quandary; what was to be done? We were faced with the options of deleting the other counting 5 mile race or keeping it in. This would mean that either those who had not done the Bridges of the Tyne 5 Mile Race in the summer would suffer, or by deleting the WAVA scores from the previous 5 miler all the effort from that race would count for nothing (apart from perhaps a 5 mile pb or two). After much discussion we decided to keep the times in. So in a nutshell there was not much change in the standings from Brampton. In fact there was only 1 change, as Dave BARTRUM leapfrogged Mark DOCTOR to take 5th place thanks to a recent Druridge Bay Parkrun pb.
Its been a fantastic season which has seen Lesley MILLER dominate the standings from start to finish, and run out a very easy winner of the 2015 competition. 2nd place went to previous Grand Prix victor Dave HINDMARSH, whilst Andy SQUIRES was 3rd. Gary COWELL was 4th, ahead of Dave BARTRUM and Mark DOCTOR. Other trophy winners were Dominic HARRIS, Pauline AITCHISON, John ROSS, Maureen BARTRUM, Graham CROW and Tim SHEPHERD. All award will be given out at tomorrows Christmas Party!
There will be slight amendments to the rules for the 2016 season and of course a slightly different set of races. These will be announced very soon. Many, many thanks to John ROSS for his superb work this year, collating the Druridge Bay Parkrun results every week since January!
