Well done to Shelley COATES who took part in her first Ultra event on Saturday 26th September, the St Oswalds 50k. Shelley, who is in training for the 110k Sandstone Way Ultra in a few weeks time, finished this race in 6.11.43. Shelley was an outstanding 5th of the 33 female participants and was 24th overall out of the 80 runners! The race started at Lindisfarne at 7am, went via Belford, Bamburgh and Beadnell before finishing in Craster. A brilliant effort Shelley!
At the opposite end of the racing spectrum a large number of Harriers were in parkrun action that morning, tackling 5k’s up and down the country. Fastest of our runners was Richard EASTOE who clocked 21.39 at the Workington Parkrun. He won the male 60 category with this excellent run whilst wife Gay won the female 60 category with 25 dead. Down in Devon Andy SQUIRES was warming up for a half marathon the following day by taking part in the Barnstaple Parkrun, whilst slightly closer to home Stuart BRUCE was in action at Gateshead. At Druridge Bay Ian HORSLEY impressed once again to finish in a course pb time of 21.48 to win the male 55 category. John ROSS was just outside a course pb, whilst William FORTUNE won the male 70 category.

The following day Peter GREY and Gary COWELL took part in the Run Northumberland organised SCA Prudhoe Miners 10k. Both performed excellently with Peter scooping the male 55 award and Gary COWELL gaining a course pb. Results:

Way down in the west country Andy SQUIRES took part in the Barnstaple Half Marathon, a race organised by North Devon Road Runners. Andy finished a very good 77th of well over 450 runners in 1.45.20.
Fresh from his good run at Druridge Bay the day before John ROSS took part in the Haltwhistle Half Marathon. Continuing his prep for the Frankfurt Marathon John put in a decent effort to finish 90th in 1.57.42.
Gay EASTOE won yet more honours at the Eden Runners organised Stoneybeck 10k at Penrith that day. Gay and husband Richard ran together and finished 68th and 69th with Gay finishing 1 second ahead in 54.34, thus winning the female 60 prize.
