Well done to Shelley COATES who took part in her first Ultra event on Saturday 26th September, the St Oswalds 50k. Shelley, who is in training for the 110k Sandstone Way Ultra in a few weeks time, finished this race in 6.11.43. Shelley was an outstanding 5th of the 33 female participants and was 24th overall out of the 80 runners! The race started at Lindisfarne at 7am, went via Belford, Bamburgh and Beadnell before finishing in Craster. A brilliant effort Shelley!

At the opposite end of the racing spectrum a large number of Harriers were in parkrun action that morning, tackling 5k’s up and down the country. Fastest of our runners was Richard EASTOE who clocked 21.39 at the Workington Parkrun. He won the male 60 category with this excellent run whilst wife Gay won the female 60 category with 25 dead. Down in Devon Andy SQUIRES was warming up for a half marathon the following day by taking part in the Barnstaple Parkrun, whilst slightly closer to home Stuart BRUCE was in action at Gateshead. At Druridge Bay Ian HORSLEY impressed once again to finish in a course pb time of 21.48 to win the male 55 category. John ROSS was just outside a course pb, whilst William FORTUNE won the male 70 category.
