There were some excellent results for the few Harriers in the midweek action this week, including a win and a fastest 5k for the club so far this year.
At the Kirkley 10k on Wednesday 15th July, organised by Run Northumberland, there was an excellent performance by Ella BROWN. Of the 165 runners Ella was 1st female across the line and was 12th overall in a very good 39.47. This is Ella’s third win of the year following on from her success in our Les Allcorn 10k and the HOKA Trail Race in the Lake District, both in May.
Meanwhile on the same night down on Wearside 2 Harriers took part in the Sunderland 5k, organised by Sunderland Harriers. There was a great performance by Jo GASCOIGNE-OWENS who finished 14th of 134 runners in the Ladies and Mens Over 50 mixed race. Jo clocked 18.02 and was 8th female finisher in what was a top class field. Also very happy with his performance was Dave HINDMARSH as he completed the 5k in 19.56 to finish 39th.
On Friday 17th July Kirsty STEED took part in the Northern Frontrunners 5k down on the Town Moor, a race which forms part of the Newcastle Pride Festival. Kirsty finished 468th in a bumper field, clocking 37.18.
The following day there was age category success for Andy SQUIRES at the Druridge Bay parkrun, whilst over at Workington Gay EASTOE was 1st in the female 60 category. On the south coast Graham CROW was flying the Harriers flag in the Lee on the Solent parkrun in Hampshire. Results:
