Druridge Bay Parkrun/Workington Parkrun

A whopping 18 Harriers descended on Druridge Bay Country Park on Saturday 7th February for the Parkrun, an event which was held in perfect conditions with no wind and blue skies. The headline act was Mark DOUGLAS, putting in a performance which surely makes him an early favourite for the Most Improved Male 2015 gong. Mark finished a brilliant 3rd of the 126 runners in a 30 second 5k pb of 19.32. Next home for us in his first appearance in a Harriers vest for some time was John HORSLEY, cantering round to an 8th place 20.29 finish. 3rd Harrier to finish was Gary COWELL, a few places in front of Andy SQUIRES.10974409_996649510364548_3485941115332686912_oFor the women Jackie PROUSE was 3rd female finisher overall, achieving the highest WAVA score by a Harrier on the day. Tracey SAMPLE was 4th female home and was 1st in the female 40 category in 23.18, whilst Ruth DOCTOR was a minute further back in a 5k pb. There was a Parkrun debut for Samantha FENDER, as well as pb’s for Rhona LAWSON, Rachel McCOY and youngster Ella HEMSLEY.
