Morpeth 10k/Ellenborough 10k

Tuesday 5th August saw the latest of our 2014 Grand Prix events, the popular Morpeth 10k. There were pb’s galore in this race, from Eddie LONGSTAFF, Mark DOUGLAS, Conrad STEWART and Shelley COATES to name but a few. This was a good effort considering the stiff climbs on miles 1 and 4. First Harrier home and 3rd in the male 50 category in a superb 36.30 was Phil HEMSLEY. Phil’s time equals the best 10k performance by a Harrier so far this year, matching Bruce CROMBIE’s effort at Druridge Bay earlier this year. Next home was Mark COCKBURN who dipped under 40 minutes, whilst Eddie LONGSTAFF was agonisingly just over 40 minutes. There were also notable performances by Dave HENDERSON, Micky AISTON, as well as a Harriers debut for new member Graham CROW. For the ladies first Harrier home was Sarah GRAY in 44.19. Next came Diana WEIGHTMAN followed by Junior Harrier Charlotte BASTON. There was a good run by debutante Rachel McCOY. Results:
