An amazing 30 Harriers took part in the Druridge Bay 10k on Sunday 25th May. Held in glorious sunny conditions this year was the 8th running of this event, with proceeds going to a very worthwhile cause, the Stephen Carey Fund.

On a day packed with pb’s and debuts the headline performance once again came from Harriers legend Jo GASCOIGNE-OWENS as she retained the 1st female trophy which she won is style last year. Jo was over 2 and a half minutes clear of her nearest rival finishing in a very impressive 38.31. She was also part of the winning ladies team along with Sarah GRAY and Charlotte BASTON. Also well done to Shelley COATES who showed that she’s improving all the time, knocking over 4 minutes off her 2013 time.

First Harrier home was Captain Marvel Bruce CROMBIE in a very good 5th place, clocking the fastest male Harrier 10k this year. He was just over 90 seconds clear of Adam FLETCHER who continued his recovery from injury in decent fashion. Adam SPILLER performed well to finish 3rd male Harrier, knocking off almost 3 minutes from his 2013 time. Other noteworthy performances were courtesy of Micky AISTON who dipped under 45 minutes for the first time, Mike HENRY who ran his fastest 10k for ages and was first over 60 and Tim SHEPHERD who was over 9 minutes faster than his 2013 Druridge Bay performance!
