River Ness 10k/Redcar Half Marathon/Sherman Cup/Davison Shield/Whitley Bay Parkrun/Newcastle Parkrun/Harrogate Parkrun/Upper Redesdale Show

The performance of the weekend came north of the border when Daniel LENG smashed his 10k pb in the River Ness 10k, part of the Loch Ness Marathon weekend, on Sunday 29th September. 16 year old Dan was 18th of well over 1500 runners in 35.24!

Also that day 3 Harriers were in action in the fast and flat Redcar Half Marathon. A strong headwind between 5 and 10 miles meant that pb’s were out of the question, even for second claimer Pauline AITCHISON who won the female 40 category for Wooler RC in 1.32.29. Results:

316-Mark DOCTOR 1.40.20

443-John ROSS 1.46.27

579-Michael AISTON 1.50.56

Finally the TELFER family were winners on Saturday as Mike explains:

“The TELFER family journeyed over to Rochester on Saturday for the Upper Redesdale Show. We had a great day out at a super show that has resisted modern day  ‘commercialisation’ and retained it’s fell race!

The adults raced first and some old bloke in an Alnwick vest came second in a fast 3.5 mile course which consisted of two long climbs and descents!

The U13’s and U16’s raced next, Fin had to move up an age category as there was a distinct lack of U10 boy’s ! They all set off together but split after the first climb to allow the U16’s to race over the longer course. Ollie completed the 1 mile course in 7:02 to win the trophy and Fin was about a minute and a half behind to come in as third boy! Quite impressive really considering the severity of the first climb. Who says prize money isn’t a motivator!! Roll on Alwinton……..”RochesterShowOllie
