6 Harriers took part in the 5 mile Glendale Show Fell Race on Monday 26th August, organised by Harrier and local fell running pin up boy Bruce CROMBIE.
The race was part of the Glendale Show for many years but was stopped a few years ago, only to be revived again this year. The route is an out and back run across tracks, fields and open fell to the top of Brands Hill. Full results are at http://www.northumberlandfellrunners.co.uk/html/raceresults/2013/Glendale2013.pdf but the highlight from a Harriers point of view was Phil HEMSLEY winning the male 50 category when he finished 9th of the 46 finishers. There were also good runs in hot weather by Junior star Dan LENG and by Graham SYERS. Results:
6-Daniel LENG 37.15
9-Phil HEMSLEY 37.55
12-Graham SYERS 39.25
25-Mark DOCTOR 47.57
36-Mairi CAMPBELL 56.51
39-Dave COATES 59.47
In the Junior race Craig MUTER was the sole Harrier taking part in the 3 mile event. Craig performed well finishing 3rd of the 16 youngsters in 23.00.
Well done to Bruce and his helpers/marshals, including Harry PORTEOUS, for this excellent event. Bruce’s blog can be found here http://brucegaybarblog.blogspot.co.uk/. Please note the post watershed photo!
