Newcastle Parkrun/Glasgow Parkrun/Ballater 10

Many congratulations to Jo GASCOIGNE-OWENS for her superb performance at the Newcastle Parkrun on Saturday 27th July, where she finished an amazing 7th overall, smashing the female 5k club record by well over 2 minutes in the process with a time of 17.33! Jo now holds club records in 5k, 10k, 10 mile and marathon distances. She just needs to beat Lyn FRATER’s half marathon record of 1.27.48, which was set in 1992, and then she has the full set!

However first Harrier home in a new 5k pb of 17.08 was the ultra consistent Bruce CROMBIE. Bruce was a great 4th overall of the 378 runners, and was 1st in the male 40 category, knocking 12 seconds off his previous 5k pb. Agonisingly Bruce was a mere 7 seconds outside the best ever Parkrun by an Alnwick Harrier, set by Richard AGAN in 2011.

To complete a great day for the club Diana WEIGHTMAN was first in the female 50 category, finishing as 6th overall female, with a 1 second pb of 22.01!
