Newcastle Parkrun/Northampton Parkrun/Borrowdale Trail Race/Howgill Harriers 10k

4 Harriers took part in the Newcastle Parkrun on Saturday 18th May, the highlight being another pb performance from Junior Harrier Daniel LENG. There was also another improvement by Dave HINDMARSH, who is getting quicker every week. Results:

7-Daniel LENG 18.02 (75.97%)

76-Dave HINDMARSH 22.20 (66.57%)

126-Charlotte BASTON 24.19 (63.74%)

127-Phil BASTON 24.19 (58.33%)

Meanwhile further south Northampton based new Harrier Mark JEFFERIES was taking part in the Northampton Parkrun. Mark notched another pb and dipped under 20 minutes for the first time finishing 13th in 19.53 (65.63%).

The following day Clare HISCOCK and Mark DOCTOR were taking part in a very testing 21k race, the Borrowdale Trail Race which was part of the weekends Keswick Mountain Festival. The race started at Portinscale and skirted Derwentwater, taking in some extremely hilly sections and rough ground, meaning that times were well down on their usual half marathon performances! There were just over 180 competitors. Results:

Also in Cumbria the EASTOE’s were taking part in the Howgill Harriers 10k. On a testing course in Kirkby Stephen the pair improved on their times from last year by 3 minutes. Gay finished 43rd in 1.01.35 and Richard 44th in 1.01.36.
