On Tuesday night Alnwick Harriers was presented with its ‘Accredited Club’ status certificate by England Athletics! Coach Coordinator and Alnwick Juniors coach Brenda MALLEN was on hand to receive the ‘Clubmark’ certificate from England Athletics CCSO John STACEY. John offered his congratulations to Alnwick Harriers on their newly acquired ‘Clubmark’ status and praised the efforts of the clubs volunteers, whose valuable contributions led to the club achieving ‘Accredited Club’ status.
England Athletics ‘Accredited Club’ status forms part of the only national cross sports quality accreditation scheme, ‘Clubmark’. It is built around a set of core criteria which ensure that accredited clubs operate to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards.
Brenda MALLEN commented ‘This award demonstrates the clubs continued commitment to developing pathways into athletics for young athletes in north east Northumberland, giving parents the confidence that Alnwick Harriers provides a guaranteed standard of excellence in our athletics activities.’
Alnwick Harriers chairperson Sue BOLAM added ‘This accreditation is a great achievement for the club. Through access to support from England Athletics volunteers at Alnwick Harriers are continuing to develop the club and Alnwick Harriers is only the third athletics club in Northumberland to achieve the Clubmark status.’
Alnwick Harriers is looking forward to developing its activities throughout the rest of 2013 the first of which is the Les Allcorn 10K and Les Allcorn Junior Fun Run on Tuesday 7th May.
