7 Harriers took part in a wet and dreary Newcastle Parkrun on Saturday 16th March. But it was anything but a wet and dreary day for Bruce CROMBIE who finished a superb 4th of the 345 runners in a huge pb of 17.20, finishing 1st in the male 40 category in the process! Jackie MOSCROP also won the female 40 category again shaving a few seconds off her previous best 5k time. Phil and Charlotte BASTON ran well both just missing out on pb’s, whilst there were Parkrun debuts for Lisa WILLIAMS and Rachel HEELEY. Results:

Meanwhile Danny RICHARDSON was once again in action in the Whitley Bay Parkrun. Danny finished 11th of the 170 runners in 19.48 (66.25%).
Further down the country top athlete Dave HINDMARSH, whilst tired and hungover, was taking part in the Cheltenham Parkrun. In wet conditions Dave was 40th of the 120 runners in 23.56 (62.12%).
Later that day Jo SHALLCROSS was in action in the Cartmel Trail Race 18k, part of the Lakeland Trail Race Series. Jo followed up a couple of good runs for us in Harrier League races at the end of 2012 by finishing as 3rd female in this tough and wet race. Jo completed the course 66th of the 177 finishers in 1.37.47.
Over in Cumbria Gay and Richard EASTOE were taking part in the Cumberland Fell Runners organised Embleton Church Race. This new event was an undulating 6.2k event which saw the pair running together, finishing 43rd and 44th in 36.43 and 36.44.
Finally Lesley MILLER was continuing her fine cross country form at Herrington Park, Sunderland in the British Masters Athletic Federation Cross Country Championships that day. Lesley finished 5th in the female 55 category and was 71st in a field of 131, clocking 30.22 for the 6k race.
