6 Junior Harriers made the long trek down to Hartlepool to take part in the 107th North Eastern Cross Country Championships on Saturday 8th December. The highlight was Adam WEIGHTMAN’s 3rd place finish which secured his place in the Inter County Cross Country Championships in March 2013. But there were good performances from all the Harriers involved. Results:

Earlier that day 2 Harriers took part in the Newcastle Parkrun. Due to large sections of the route being icy, a lot of the race took part on grass and mud at the side of the footpaths, resulting in slower times and a slightly longer course. Peter GREY finished 18th of the 217 finishers in 20.22, whilst Phil BASTON was 86th in 24.24.

The following day the club was represented by 3 members in the Simonside Cairns Fell Race. The race was shortened slightly due to very icy conditions on the slabs at the top of Simonside, making the distance about 10.5 miles. First Harrier to finish, winning the male 50 category in 14th place was Phil HEMSLEY. Results:

14-Phil HEMSLEY 1.24.50

90-Bridget PEBERDY 2.07.48

91-John COCKBURN 2.07.48
