Alnwick Harriers Xmas Party

Thanks once again to Angie EMBLETON for doing a great job organising the Alnwick Harriers Xmas Party which was held at The Plough, Alnwick on Saturday 1st December. During the evening Club Secretary Jim LILLICO presented the prestigious Most Improved and Achievement Awards.

The Male Achievement Award was presented to Phil LEE, for his fantastic achievement of taking part in 60 races during the year. Phil received a Platinum Award at the recent AGM and a Grand Prix prize this evening, meaning that he popped straight down to Ikea on Sunday morning to buy a new trophy cabinet (he should have popped into St James Park to borrow Newcastle’s one).

The Female Achievement Award went to a very worthy winner in Jo GASCOIGNE-OWENS. Jo has not raced a huge amount in 2012 but when she has she’s performed superbly. Highlights include her 2nd place finish in our own Harrier League event in March, 1st female in the Northumberland Coastal Marathon in August and 3rd female in a new club record at Brampton last month.

The Most Improved Male gong went to David BARTRUM. David has improved his 10k times from 2011, as well as his half marathon and Sunderland Pier to Pier times. Well done David.

Finally the Most Improved Female award went to Jackie MOSCROP. Despite a season blighted by injury Jackie has shown Ben Johnson-esque improvements both in races and in Wednesday night training sessions. Thanks to her hard work and “iron” tablets she has notched a half marathon pb in the Great North Run and a superb 10k time at the Blyth Links 10k in August. Given an injury free 2013 no doubt Jackie will improve further!

The Grand Prix awards were also given out by Grand Prix Coordinator John ROSS, including the 1st place prize to Jim LILLICO. Well done to all the winners and good luck for further improvements and achievements next year!
