NEHL Cramlington

Well done to the large number of male, female and Junior Harriers who turned out for the first North East Harrier League cross country fixture at East Cramlington Nature Reserve on Saturday 27th October.

There were some great performances from the youngsters with Warren DAVISON continuing his impressive performances from last season by finishing 2nd only 3 seconds behind the winner in the Under 11’s race. Rosie MURTON posted the fastest time in the Girls Under 15 race, finishing 4th overall due to her Fast Pack handicap. In the Boys Under 17 race Isaac MOSS finished a very good 5th, whilst in the Under 15’s Adam WEIGHTMAN was 12th, doing it from the Fast Pack.

For the men Phil HEMSLEY made his Harriers cross country debut finishing as first Harrier, just missing out on promotion to the Medium Pack (well done!). Bruce CROMBIE and Geoff CAMPBELL were next out of the Medium Pack, with the final counters being Ian SIMON, Jim LILLICO and Mark MILLER. After round 1 the men are 6th of the 10 teams in Division 2, a solid enough start!

For the women there was a superb 10 Harriers competing. There were returns from injury for Tracey SAMPLE, Lesley MILLER and Claire GILLINGHAM, whilst Jo SHALCROSS, Annabel LILLICO, Denise DRUMMOND and Clare HISCOCK made their Harrier League debuts. Jo GASCOIGNE-OWENS was 1st female Harrier from the Medium Pack, with MILLER and SHALCROSS the other counters. As a result the women are 8th of the 11 teams who had at least 3 runners at the event, with some other clubs not fielding a full team.
