Newcastle Parkrun/Rushcliffe Parkrun/Coniston Trail Race/Kielder Marathon/Rod Rutherford Memorial 10k/BUPA Great Edinburgh 10k

4 Harriers took part in the Newcastle Parkrun on Saturday 6th October, including Peter GREY who once again won the male 55 age category. There was also a tight finish between Phil BASTON and Phil LEE. A record 376 people took part in the event. Harriers results:

12-Peter GREY 18.35

131-Phil BASTON 23.16

139-Phil LEE 23.28

191-Charlotte BASTON 25.05

Meanwhile Caroline FINDLAY took part in the first ever Rushcliffe Parkrun, near Nottingham. Caroline finished 38th of the 127 finishers and was 3rd female in a time of 23.29.

Over in the Lake District David NOLAN and David COATES were competing in the Lakeland Trails Coniston Trail Race. The race comprises of about 1200 feet of climbing with some exhilirating rocky downhill sections, and took place in lovely autumn weather. NOLAN finished 92nd in 1.19.39 whilst COATES finished this testing 15k course in 194th in 1.31.27.

The following day Phil HEMSLEY put in the performance of the weekend in the notoriously tough Kielder Marathon, finishing 14th overall in a superb time of 3.06.49. Cris ATWELL also took part finishing 326th in 4.02.28.

Also on Sunday 2 Harriers took part in the Berwick Harriers organised Rod Rutherford Memorial 10k. Bruce CROMBIE, taking part in his first race as a Veteran, finished 2nd overall behind Morpeth’s Ian HARDING, winning the male 40 category in the process in a time of 37.21. Kim BRONZE also took part finishing 18th in 50.11.

Finally that day Claire SPENCER travelled over the border to run in the BUPA Great Edinburgh 10k. Claire finished 2346th in this very popular event in 56.59.
