Newcastle Parkrun/Great Winter Run 5k/Old Monks 6

5 Harriers took part in a cold and windy Newcastle Parkrun on Saturday 7th January, including a welcome back after a long term injury to Tracey SAMPLE. Due to the weather conditions times were slower than normal across the board, however there was a huge turnout of 327 runners. Harriers results:

123-Phil LEE 23.41

173-Ruth DOCTOR 25.19 (2nd in female 35-39 category)

178-Tracey SAMPLE 25.32

197-Anne ALLAN 26.14 (2nd in female 45-49 category)

Meanwhile Dave HINDMARSH took part in the BUPA Great Winter Run 5k in Edinburgh on the same day, having a superb race. Dave finished 2nd in the male over 50 category in 20.29, finishing 58th of the 1494 finishers.

4 Harriers travelled down to the village of Hart just outside Hartlepool to take part in the Hartlepool Burn Road Runners organised Old Monks multi terrain race on Sunday 8th January. The race is a mixture of road, bridleway and muddy hills, with a couple of burns thrown in. Mike HENRY had a great race finishing one place and 4 seconds off the male over 60 winner in 41.08, whilst Mark DOCTOR, Charlie GILLON and Anne ALLAN, in her second race in as many days, also ran well. Results:
