Xmas Paarlauf/London Marathon Ballot

There was a great turn out of 31 Harriers at last nights Xmas Paarlauf. The event took place in cold but dry conditions on the industrial estate and comprised of 10 teams. In a closely fought battle, where the lead changed several times, the winning team was Jo GASCOIGNE-OWENS, David NOLAN and Bridget PEBERDY. This caps a fine end to the season for David who won the Most Improved Male title at the recent Xmas Party and for Bridget who won the Female Achievement Award. Second team home was Andy SQUIRES, Claire ENGLISH and Lisa WILLIAMS, whilst third was the team with 4 runners Bruce CROMBIE, Una McCAIG, Louise CALLAGHAN and Stuart MORRIS. The “winners” of Adam SPILLER’s famous wooden spoons for finishing last were Phil LEE, Sue LIGHTFOOT and Kim BRONZE. Well done (?) to them!

Then it was off to The Oaks for a great spread and the ballot for the 3 club places in next years London Marathon. 5 names went into the draw and the lucky names pulled out were Geoff CAMPBELL, Andy SQUIRES and Mel STEER. Good luck to them with their training for the big day on 22nd April!

Thanks to Mike HENRY, John COCKBURN, Charlie GILLON, Wendy APPLEBY and Mel STEER for sorting the teams out and making this event a great success. Also thanks to Keith SUTTON for organising the food at the Oaks.
