NEHL – Wrekenton cross-country

The cross country season got underway yesterday in very warm and sunny conditions, unusual for cross country. The course was very dry no mud to be seen!!

First race of the day was the U11 boys and girls and two harriers ran and first home for Alnwick in the boys race was Luca Wilson (27) 7:48 and in the girls Alicia Purvis (5) 7:01. Two more juniors ran in the U13 race and Louisa Syers came 22nd in a time of 12:55. Next up to run was Lilia Purvis who came in 14th in 11:13 in the U15’s. Well done to them all.

In the ladies race, we had two runners Jen Knight and Linda Patterson who both tackled the course brilliantly, but both said it was tough and very warm!! 260 Jen Knight 37:54, 371 Linda Patterson 45:54

Finally the men were underway and Alnwick had a team of 8, all running from the slow pack apart from Dave Richardson who was fast pack. First home for the club and new member was Rudy McLeod (13), who for certain will have moved up a pack!! He was followed by Steve Patterson (71) and Dave Richardson, running from the fast pack finished in 82nd place. Graham Syers, Paul Godden and Tony Jackson made the six counters. Tim Broomfield and Ian Stephenson completed the team of 8. Well done to you all great running!
