Druridge Bay Parkrun/Folkestone Parkrun/Kielder 10k/Grantchester 10k/Kielder Marathon and Half Marathon/Yorkshire Marathon/Sandstone Way 120 Mile

A busy old weekend for the club started off in fine style on Saturday 7th October when Jo GASCOIGNE-OWENS blasted round the Druridge Bay Parkrun in an impressive 18.59. Jo was comfortably the 1st female finisher and was 4th overall finisher of the 181 competitors. Her time was the 2nd fastest time by a female at the event in 2017. 2nd home for us and 2nd female finisher was Carole PAGE in 21.18, whilst Mel STEER was next in 23.24. For the men John ROSS had a fine run and was our 1st male finisher. Results:

At the other end of the country Tim FALCONER was the winner of the male 50 category at the Folkestone Parkrun. Tim was 12th overall in 21.15.

Later in the day 2 Harriers were in action at the Kielder 10k. Diana WEIGHTMAN was 121st finisher and was 2nd in her age category in 49.39, whilst Keith SHOTTON was round in 56.09.

The following day there was yet more success for our ladies when Rachelle FALLOON was the 1st female finisher at the Grantchester 10k in Cambridgeshire! Rachelle was 6th overall finisher of the 220 runners in 39.59.

The following day Jon DUFFY and Laura McLEAN Jr were both in action at Kielder, with Jon in the marathon and Laura in the half marathon. Jon had a great run and finished 78th in a very good 3.40.01, whilst Laura was home in the 13.1 mile race in 2.03.11.

Also in marathon action on Sunday was Nell GAIR at the PlusNet Yorkshire Marathon. Nell was round in 6.05.18 and celebrated with a pint afterwards!

Finally for the weekend our amazing ultra runner Andy STEPHENSON took part in the Sandstone Way 120 Mile Race. Yes 120 miles!!! Starting in Berwick on Saturday morning, the race ended in Hexham the following evening. Andy finished this mammoth race in 35 hours 6 minutes and 50 seconds, winning the male 50 category in the process. Brilliant work Andy!
