A busy week got off to a decent start at the Glendale Show Fell Race on Monday 28th August, a race expertly organised by ex-Harrier Bruce CROMBIE. In a small but select field Graham SIMPSON was 3rd finisher in 33.38, ahead of Dan LENG in 4th in 35.11 and fell running lover David HINDMARSH in 10th in 45.06.

On Thursday 31st August Carole PAGE was in action at the Low Fell Running Club organised Watergate 5k. Carole, so prolific over the 5k distance at the Druridge Bay Parkrun, posted a brilliant 20.22 to finish 68th overall. She was the easy winner of the female 55 category.

On Saturday 2nd September we entered one female team in the curtain raiser to the 2017/18 cross country season, the Farringdon Cross Country races in Sunderland. The trio of Diana WEIGHTMAN, Alison WRIGHT and Rachelle FALLOON ran well to finish 6th of the 15 teams in the Senior Womens race. Diana posted 13.09 for her 1.8 mile leg, Alison 14.41 and Rachelle the 6th quickest time in the race, 11.31.

James was 9 seconds quicker than his previous best to finish 6th in 18.48. New Harriers Jon ARCHER and Andrew WILDE were 8th in 19.38 and 19th in 20.50, with Andrews being a course best. For the ladies Alice TETLEY-PAUL was 2nd finisher just ahead of Carole PAGE, who was first in the female 55 category. Also well done to Justine NORMAN who was the winner of the female 45 age group!
