Quayside 5k/Druridge Bay Parkrun/Workington Parkrun/Fell Foot Parkrun/Grasmere Guides Races/Great Aberdeen 10k

On Wednesday 23rd August 2 Harriers made the trip south to Tyneside to compete in the Quayside 5k. This race is of high quality with some of the finest runners in the north on the start line. First back for us and 23rd overall was Dan TURNBULL running a sensational 16.06! Dan’s time was not only a personal best but it was also agonisingly only one second off a joint club record over the distance which is still held by club legend Dave KIRKLAND! Ross WILSON ran a superb 17.17 and thanks to chip-timing netted a one second personal best. Results:

Saturdays Parkrun at Druridge Bay was once again jam-packed with highlights and successes from Harriers. The classy Carole PAGE was the first female home in a cracking 21.06. Shaun LAND ran a personal best to break into the top ten. Ever improving John CUTHBERT made it two personal bests in two weeks with a 20.43, meanwhile Neil HAMILTON was only 5 seconds off his all-time best at the event. Junior runner Harris HALL was also another to run a PB.

On Sunday, Steve STUDLEY and son Ben both ran at Grasmere in the Lake District. The Senior Guides Race is a short 2.5k but includes almost 300m of climbing and Steve did well to finish 135th in 23.59.


Also that day Jim LILLICO was in action north of the border at the Great Aberdeen 10k. Jim was 71st finisher in 43.07.
