Druridge Bay Parkrun/Newcastle Parkrun/Braunstone Parkrun/Workington Parkrun/Durham Parkrun/Temple Park 5k/Castles Marathon and Half Marathon

Well done to Ella BROWN who, for the 3rd time in its history, was the first female finisher at the Druridge Bay Parkrun on Saturday 22nd October. Her time of 18.46 was also a course personal best, was a new female 40 course record and saw her finish 3rd overall! Mark DOUGLAS also ran a course best to finish 7th overall in a brilliant 19.24, whilst Rachelle FALLOON was 2nd female home and also set a new course best of 20.26!

However the fastest time of the day at the 5k distance came courtesy of Ben KELLY at the Newcastle Parkrun. Of the 699 finishers Ben was a brilliant 6th home, in 17.26. Slightly further back Jim LILLICO was the winner of the male 55 category, whilst daughter Annabel had her first race for quite some time and ran well. Results:

Elsewhere Carole PAGE was the winner of the female 55 category at the Braunstone Parkrun, Leicester thanks to her 22.06. Kirtsy STEED was 357th at Durham in 50.02, whilst at Workington Richard EASTOE was 57th in 25.43 and Gay EASTOE was 65th in 26.23.

Down at South Shields that morning one of the success stories of the year, Dominic HARRIS, knocked another chunk off his 5k personal best in the Temple Park 5k. Dom finished 29th in an excellent 18.08, to round of a very successful morning for Harriers in 5k action!

The following day Harriers took part in slightly longer events, the Castles Marathon and Half Marathon at Bamburgh. In the marathon just the one Harrier competed, Karen KELLY. In her first marathon Karen ran very well to finish 28th overall in 3.51.15 and 1st in the female 45 category! We also had a category winner in the half marathon thanks to Gay EASTOE winning the female 60 category. The race also saw a number of Harriers take part in their first 13.1 mile race; well done to them! Results:
