5 Harriers took part in the TCS Amsterdam Half Marathon on Sunday 16th October, where the star once again was Jo GASCOIGNE-OWENS. On a warm autumnal day in the Dutch capital Jo was the second female to cross the line, which is an amazing feat in a big city race, in a splendid 1.22.51. She was the 102nd finisher in a field of nearly 15,000. Husband Stuart MORRIS was next, followed by Mark DOCTOR, both of whom were very satisfied with their times. Samantha EMBLETON, not long after rejoining the club, was next followed by Melanie BUCHANAN.

Also that day Richard and Gay EASTOE were in half marathon action at the Loch Rannoch Half Marathon near Pitlochry. The couple ran together and finished 56th and 57th in 2.06.20, with Gay picking up the female 60 category prize.

2 Harriers made the trip up to the scene of last years massively subsidised club trip, Aviemore, to take part in the half marathon and 10k. Stuart BRUCE finished the popular half marathon in 2.23.20 to finish 1093rd, whilst Jayne McKENNA was 409th in the 10k. Unfortunately an issue with a marshal meant that the 10k was actually only an 8k, which Jayne finished in 47.04.

6 Harriers travelled down to Gibside to take part in the Blackhill Bounders organised Fruit Bowl Trail Race, a scenic 6 mile run around the stunning grounds of the National Trust property. Angie EMBLETON was our first runner to finish in 55.31, whilst Mel STEER and Denise DRUMMOND finished within seconds of each other. Kim BRONZE was just ahead of Ruary SLATER, with Mairi CAMPBELL completing the field. Grand Prix standings will be updated soon.
