Alnwick Harriers held their Annual General Meeting at Alnwick Rugby Club on Wednesday 12th October. The meeting was well attended and was opened by Chairwoman Tracey SAMPLE. Tracey started by remembering two much loved club members who’ve passed away this year, Anne ALLAN and Dave CHARLTON, before rounding up the achievements by the club and by some of our athletes over the course of the last 12 months. Outgoing Treasurer Stuart MORRIS then informed the assembled Harriers what a good financial position the club is in, whilst David HINDMARSH outlined a couple of proposed changes to the Club Constitution which were passed without incident. Mike TELFER then did the Junior report which showed what a great year our younger athletes have had!
It was then time to say goodbye to a number of committee members who have decided to step down. Sue BOLAM has been a long time committee member, has carried out a whole host of roles within the club and will be a massive miss. Mary PLUMLEY has done a superb job organising the Les Allcorn 10k for a number of years and has also helped revamp the club kit this year. Lisa WILLIAMS has overseen a massive growth in the club in terms of members in her role as Membership Secretary, whilst Stuart MORRIS has had hold of the clubs purse strings for a couple of years and has done a superb job. Sarah SYERS has just completed her second stint on the committee and has organised the 2016 Xmas Party, whilst Maureen BARTRUM organised the very popular Yoga For Harriers this year. Many thanks to you all for all your help!!! However we are pleased to announce that Jocelyn BOLAM, Tim FALCONER, Laura McLEAN Snr and Laura STUBBINGS have stepped forward to join the committee! Also Sarah CROSS has stepped forward to perform the vacant Secretary role and Shelley COATES is the new Membership Secretary. Good luck!
The AGM was then closed and the Harriers gorged themselves silly on the free buffet. Alas the Gold, Silver and Bronze awards were supposed to be presented however have not arrived as yet. They will be given out at one of the Christmas social events, though more details will follow…..
