Bamburgh 10k/Druridge Bay Parkrun/Workington Parkrun/Alwinton 3 Tops Fell Race

17 Harriers were in action at the Run Northumberland organised Bamburgh 10k on Sunday 12th June. A generally flat course coupled with still, damp conditions meant that there were some brilliant performances. Ella BROWN showed her class by holding off top class Elswick Harrier Judith NUTT to win the womens race in a great time of 37.44. Ellas time was just 18 seconds outside the clubs 10k record which belongs to Jo GASCOIGNE-OWENS. This performance is easily the fastest 10k of the year by a female Harrier so far. However first to finish for us was Phil HEMSLEY in 35.38. This was enough to secure 3rd place overall and again is the fastest time over this distance by a male Harrier this year, knocking 20 seconds off the previous best run by Dan LENG. Just under a minute behind Phil and following on from his excellent performance at Blaydon a few days before was Richard JOHNSON. His time of 36.24 gave Richard a comfortable 10k pb. 3rd male Harrier to finish was the male 55 winner Peter GREY, just dipping under 40 minutes. For the ladies next Harrier behind Ella was a brand new member, Carole PAGE. Carole was the winner of the female 55 category, completing the course in 43.59. Next home was Justine NORMAN who secured a 10k pb as did, amongst others, John ROBSON and Emma MURRAY. A brilliant day, well done Harriers! Results

The previous day Carole PAGE made her Harriers debut at the Druridge Bay Parkrun and showed what a class act she is in winning the female race. Carole has now been 1st female finisher on 7 occasions and has the 3rd highest WAVA score, thanks to running some great times from the female 55 category. This WAVA score ranks her higher than Harriers legend Jo GASCOIGNE-OWENS, Phil HEMSLEY, Peter GREY and even local running superstar Ian HARDING! 2nd female to finish, making another comeback from injury, was Pauline AITCHISON. For the chaps Terry FOUNTAIN was 3rd finisher in 19.04, Dominic HARRIS was 4th and Jim LILLICO finished 10th to win the male 55 age group. Well done to Derek GUTHRIE who ran a course personal best.
