On Sunday 5th June 3 Harriers tackled the very tough Lakeland Trails Marathon at Coniston, named by Runners World Magazine as “the most scenic trail marathon in Britain”. Given the very warm weather this was a tough race for our trio of Shelley COATES, Maureen BARTRUM and Dave BARTRUM. However of 228 runners Dave and Maureen BARTRUM finished in a very good 79th and 80th in 5.47.03 and 5.47.06. Shelley finished 90th in 5.50.46. In the Half Marathon Challenge Ron McCORMACK finished this toughie in 355th place in 2.57.05.
On Saturday 4th June there were some very good performances by Harriers at the Druridge Bay Parkrun, including the usual pbs and age category wins! 1st Harrier to finish in a course best was Shaun LAND in 19.47 to take 3rd place. He was followed home in 12th by Mark DOUGLAS. Mark was having his first run in club colours for some time due to injury and was rightly satisfied with his effort. Slightly further back Ian McALLISTER ran a pb, whilst David HINDMARSH was taking part in his 50th parkrun! For the ladies Zoe ROBSON was 1st Harrier to finish in 37th overall. Her time of 23.34 was a course pb, enabling her to finish one place ahead of the female 45 category winner Jackie PROUSE. Sue BOLAM was 1st in the female 50 age group and Pam WHELDON won the 60 category!
